Empirical research of corporate diversification strategy in developed and emerging markets: an overview

Abstract

The diversification strategy is in the center of investigation of broad areas of science such as financial economics, strategic management, organization theory and marketing. In this article we suggest the analysis of diversification strategy from financial analytic’s point of view. There is a vast stratum of academic works devoted to investigation of corporate diversification efficiency. The financial literature examine, first of all, diversification effect on firm value, that is whether the diversification strategy is efficient or not for stockholders of a company. We survey the most significant developments in the literature on corporate diversification.
